We already saw some media renders which leaked just a day back but today everything goes official.
The new Pixel two and Pixel two XL smartphones were only announced in a special event by Google. The majority of the rumours was true but here are all of the final details.
The new Pixel 2 retains the 5-inch form factor and packs an AMOLED display with quite a fairly large forehead and chin to compensate for the front facing dual-stereo speakers. Personally, I am not happy with all that wasted space.
The back sees a few changes although you still get the duo-tone design format with glass and aluminum. It seems mores refined this time around.
After specifically mentioning and joking about it in a product video during the initiation of the original Pixels, Google has hopped on the no headphone jack ship. Surprisingly it did so quite discretely.
Battery around the Pixel 2 is a mere 2,700mAh. Now combined with an OLED and new Doze updates, this ought to go ahead and hopefully squeeze out at least a day’s charge. The handset is coming in three different colors; Kinda Blue, Certainly White and Just Dark.
Pixel two XL
The Google Pixel 2 XL is the bigger and better version of the lot. Like the Pixel two, you don’t get the headphone jack and the design change is not dramatic but still looks classy. It will get a bigger 6-inch almost bezel-less P-OLED display that is rounded at the corners. There is a 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top along with the same, always-on display feature with 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage and 100000:1 super contrast ratio.
The Pixel two XL comes a larger 3,520mAh battery and will be available in two colors; Black and White, or what I like to call Panda and Just Black.
Google specifically mentioned that it doesn’t leave any additional features for its bigger device so that you receive all the qualities on both the devices. The new Pixel two smartphones come with one of the best cameras ever put on a smartphone. It will get a DxOMark rating of 98, leaving the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and also the Apple iPhone 8 Plus behind. The back camera generates a pixel size of 1.4μm and is aided with laser auto-focus and dual pixel phase detection. The best thing about the camera is that it utilizes electronic image stabilisation in addition to optical image stabilisation in precisely the identical time. Regrettably 4K video in 60fps doesn’t make the cut. And the same portrait photos can be taken with the front camera. (Burn for dual-cameras)
Google has also added a preview of Google Lens about the newest Pixel smartphones which can basically use Google’s strong image search engine and instantly recognise and distinguish objects in your pictures. This is likely going to be the upcoming big thing when it comes to smartphone cameras and we can see different producers adding this attribute.
The two handsets are dust and water-proof and come with fast charging via the USB Type-C port. In terms of the innards, the new Pixel 2 series features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB of RAM. The storage options are 64GB and 128GB.
The Indian pricing for the Pixel two is Rs 61,000 for the 64GB variant and 128GB Pixel 2 will cost you Rs 70,000. In terms of the Pixel two XL, the 64GB variant is priced at Rs 73,000 while the 128GB Pixel 2 XL costs Rs 82,000. Pre-order have already started and the handsets will be available starting November.
