The Echo speaker family is basically a voice-controlled device which uses Alexa voice service to execute multiple tasks like playing music, setting reminders, check your own weather and sports scores, control smart home devices and so on. It may even connect to speakers or headphones through Bluetooth or 3.5 mm stereo cable to play music from various services. According to a report, India is going to get Amazon Prime Music but will initially be available as a preview for customers buying any of those Echo devices. It will eventually be made for free for prime members. They will also encourage music streaming from Saavn and TuneIn.
There are seven microphones onboard along with beam-forming technology, and noise cancellation which permits it to recognise your voice out of just about any direction even in noisy environments or while playing music.
The new Echo devices can also control lights, switches, and more with compatible attached devices from Philips, Syska as well as others. Alexa will also support a variety of services from Zomato, Ola, Urbanclap, and much more
Amazon India will be offering the new Echo speakers through an invite only system. Basically you will need to send in a petition and if your invitation is accepted, you will get an email confirmation in ‘the coming weeks’. You will then receive a opportunity to purchase one unit. One year of Amazon Prime subscription will be included with any of the Echo speakers you buy and an additional 30 percent discount will be offered at the time of checkout. Existing Prime members may expand membership by one year, or provide an equivalent cashback.
